SLS Special Kidderminster 30th May 2009

Midlands Centre members celebrated the Centenary on 30th May with a buffet lunch at the Kidderminster Rly Museum followed by a trip over the Severn Valley Railway.  The train carried the traditional SLS Special headboard.   Locomotive is 0-6-0PT No 7714.  Photo by John New.   Click image for larger version.   Additional photographs are in the Yahoo Members Only group

SAT 26 SEPT 2009.  - Lunch followed by visit to the "Enthusiasts afternoon" at the Perrygrove Railway;  Meet 12 noon onward at the Wyndham Arms, Clearwell .  Leave about 1.30pm for the Perrygrove Railway.

Indoor open events (Kidderminster)  

Usually second Saturday of month but please note some dates in 2009/10 have had to be varied.

2010 Spring season indoor events

9 Jan - Revised entry - Members' slide and power point presentation; NB due to advers weather. part 2 of this meeting - First showing of 'The Cream of the Stanford Jacobs Collection' (John New) postoponed to 9th May .

13 Feb - AGM and slide/power point show: Alpine lines, John New, Roger Hennessey.

13 Mar - David Postle, (Kidderminster Rly Mus) on 'The Hereford, Hay & Brecon Railway'.

10 Apr - Neville Billington 'Bromsgrove, the railway, and the Institution of Mechanical Engineers'.

24 & 25 April - Society's National AGM & railway visit weekend.  The 2010 AGM is being organised by the Midland's Centre.  The AGM date is Saturday 24th April 2010 with an additional social programme over the weekend surrounding the meeting.   Currently expected to be Chepstow for the meeting (Sat 24th) and a Dean Forest Railway visit (Sun 25th)

9 May - First showing of 'The Cream of the Stanford Jacobs Collection' (John New) revised from 9th January The Severn Valley Railway trip & lunch originally set for 9th May is now cancelled and a new event is being rearranged - date TBC (See following)

Summer outside visits

June or July (tba) visit to the Gloucestershire & Warwickshire Railway

September (tba) visit to the 'Battlefield Line'.

4 Dec - YULETIDE FESTIVITIES - A seasonal and centennial social evening of contributions from members and friends including the John Morris Transparency Competition. Partners are most welcome. Competition entries close on 27 November and should be given to Andrew Smith at Centre meetings. Offers towards catering and items for inclusion in the programme should be given to the Centre Secretary as soon as practicable.
