One off visits and events (Last page update 4 July 2009)
Visits are arranged from time to time to places of railway interest. These may include specially arranged visits to works or signal boxes, to which the public is not normally permitted, or traveling by scheduled train services to view places of significance in the social company of like-minded members.

About our programme of meetings and visits
The SLS offers many services to members including the regular society magazine ( the Journal) an Internet Forum and also a range of meetings. There are two types of meeting and events. Our Centres run a series of indoor meetings at regular venues over the Autumn, Winter, and Spring periods. This regular, winter series, of meetings is also generally open to guests and non-members. Where this is not the case it is stated in the Centre's listing.
Although chartering main line rail excursions, the classic "SLS Special" of the end of steam era, is no longer undertaken a range of one-off' trips and visits remains in our summer programme and the national AGM is always based around a weekend of activity including visits. Rail based trips are still organised as you can see from the photographs on this page..
For all event dates see our Perpetual Calendar. This full listing includes both the indoor meetings and the additional one-off events. For a breakdown of meetings by the organising Centres see the Centres by Weekday and Centres by Venue pages.
