From a wide number of sources, the Society has a unique collection of over 10,000 negatives covering pre-grouping, grouping and nationalised eras of British railways and many from overseas railways. See sample from List 24 The lists currently available, covering some 4,300 subjects, are on the Photographic Collections lists page. Any photographs for which additional information is required are shown here.

Mystery photo - Journal J869 - A photograph of the iconic Birmingham Area Railtour of 3 June 1950 taken by W.A. Camwell (‘Cam’) on his first rail tour and consisting of a trip up the Harborne branch, the first passenger train to Harborne since 1934. Photo was included for location verification, which has subsequently been made. More information page.
