From a wide number of sources, the Society has a unique collection of over 10,000 negatives covering pre-grouping, grouping and nationalised eras of British railways and many from overseas railways. Any photographs for which additional information is required are shown here.

- Mystery photo - Journal J869 - A photograph of the iconic Birmingham Area Railtour of 3 June 1950 taken by W.A. Camwell (‘Cam’) on his first rail tour and consisting of a trip up the Harborne branch, the first passenger train to Harborne since 1934. Photo was included for location verification, which has subsequently been made. More information page.
