30 Dec. Venue change - Teesside meeting - 5 Jan only. This will be at the Fox Covert and not the Settlement. Start time 19:00 as usual.
12 Dec - As SLS web coordinator I apologise for the slightly delayed update this month due to paid work commitments and also being part of an enjoyable Warley Show weekend helping to crew the stand. Updates this time around to the indoor meeting dates list, the perpetual calendar and to the one-off meetings list. A reminder to all members that you need to register for the new members only forum by accepting the invite sent. Recently recruited members will receive that invite in next day or two as I catch up. Finally a welcome to the new members recruited at the Warley Show, thank you for joining.

5 Sep Details added that Society publicity will be available at the Wessex Association model railway event at Bournemouth. See this page above.
3 Sep - Several updates. Minor revision to home page. Sadly the Obituaries/In memoriam page has again had to be updated to cover the death of R.C. 'Dick' Riley, the well known railway photographer. Journal listing updated for new edition. Contact details expanded for the temporary change of Secretary for London & South East Area (Guildford). Amendment to Orion Booklet details (See this page and the publications page). List of photographs available for "free view" on the site updated plus the current Journal cover photograph changed.
16 Aug Completion of updates to Meetings by centre/date and perpetual calendar pages. Sadly the Obituaries/In memoriam page also further updated to cover the death of RHDR driver and SLS Member George Barlow BEM. Due to my annual holiday no further updates for approximately three weeks - John New Webmaster.
8 Aug - Note immediate change of Secretary to M.A. Green, 3 Cresswell Court, Hartlepool, TS26 0ES, e-mail MAGreenBq@aol.com
8 Aug continued - Several general updates today. The Application form updated for address change. Publications page updated for new Orion book and Photograph list for new list 32. Orion's own page updated too. Journal page updated and also the current cover photo updated to show King 6024 at Bristol. One off visits page and dates also updated. With regret the Obituaries/In memoriam page also updated. The reported problem of some links missed and not updated relating to the move of the Library Catalogue pages now fixed (See 17 Jun update below). Further changes made also to web-ring code location to reduce incidence of errors in page layout (see 23 May's entry below for more details of problem) Further housekeeping and content updates to come in next few days to the meetings pages.
1 Aug Updated diary for indoor winter season meetings added on temporary basis. All details to be transferred to usual pages within next few days. SLS Journal - Journal pages to also be updated within the next few days for current content. Sorry for delay - webmaster.
17 June - The full Library Catalogue section has been moved to a new site URL due to problems arising from fact we exceeded the available storage capacity on the main site. Apologies to anyone who had book marked the old links. During early June Wanadoo (our former ISP) were taken over by Orange. Regrettably the way the dial up accounts are charged for meant that had the SLS taken new space with Orange it would have cost the Society a minimum of £199.88 pa to obtain customisable overspill space - use of the space now allocated to the Library Catalogue pages remains, for the present time, free of charge. Meetings by centre and Perpetual Calendar also updated.
15 June - The 2006 Library Catalogue included over 200 new titles and the work of repaginating it to fit the index is now fully complete. The catalogue is spit into two parts with an index at the beginning of each part. Also the Perpetual Calendar and meeting dates by Centre pages updated with more 2006/7 winter season dates.
9 - 11 June - Update to Library Catalogue pages as the repagination of Part 1 completed - Part two changes now commencing and approximately 50% complete. Error in the linking corrected too. The information to borrowers information (pdf) added and the list of index codes (pdf). The original Graphical Introduction section rebuilt into new house style on a single page. A new shot added with associated notes covering the oldest operating Pier Tramway in the world (Hythe, Hampshire, UK)
8 June - The page of guidance on rules and notes relating to known restrictions on railway photography updated & also various links to the The Network Rail Guidance on UK rail photography page added (Both hosted on external sites). An additional 200 pages of the library catalogue reformatted and added.
31 May - Dates for winter indoor season meetings are now beginning to be notified to me and added to the relevant Centre by Centre meeting listings. The perpetual calendar will be updated too in due course.
23 May - Yesterday's page fix lasted approximately two hours before a spot check identified the problem had returned. Therefore due to these ongoing problems with the page layout on the Home Page, which are suspected to relate to the WebRing code, I have moved it to a bespoke page. See SLS WebRing if you wish to browse the ring network.
22 May - Recurrence/fix of the home page problem affecting readers using Internet Explorer. (See 1 Jan and 16 Mar updates below) All readers of the site may care to check out the free download Opera browser as an alternative to IE. Recommended. See http://www.opera.com
20 - 22 May - A general review of the site and several consequent updates is work in progress with updates across the site either already made coming soon. The national map showing active venues was reloaded on 20th due to an accidental deletion. (My oops - webmaster) Updates to Journal page, Home Page and Photographic Collection page. Latter is a new list (No 36) covering Gateshead trams. Due to time constraints completing the remainder of the library catalogue page formatting has been delayed but I aim to recommence that task this week.
3 May - Significant updates to the One-off events page with details of three summer Members only visits to railway sites (including a private steaming of Orion) and details of public steamings of Orion at Shildon. Further site updates coming soon for Journal content, the upcoming indoor meetings season, photo lists and the Library catalogue.
20 March - Range of pages reformatted in the library catalogue extended and further section of part 1 added.
18 March - The Library pages are being updated as work in progress over the next few weeks. Due to work editing some new material into my film show for SLS Kidderminster Centre on 8 April and also preparing an exhibition stand for York Model Railway Show the final updates to the library catalogue may be delayed until after Easter. My apologies Webmaster. Target date for completion of library section upgrade is to have all the new catalogue on-line prior to the Society AGM on 22 April. Library page updated to house style and also a new format library catalogue page added. Full content of 2006 catalogue already added. Also note, if you had library links book marked, that several old library related pages have been removed from the site as the pages had become obsolete.
16 March. Repeat corruption to the page layout of the index page discovered and corrected. Appears to be a similar (identical) problem to the one fixed on 1st January. Sorry for any inconvenience - Webmaster. Although rebuilding the page is straightforward when the fault is discovered no obvious cause can be spotted. Local copy on my source PC does not display the fault!
10 March - Updates to Home Page (Index) and Journal Content added for current edition (March/April). List of free to view photographs updated. Section added giving information about the society of relevance to railway modellers and film makers etc. The geographic spread of of our centre venues added to a UK map.
13 February. Updates to meetings and events pages. Full details of AGM weekend and supporting events plus new meeting details for Bromley and Liverpool Centres added.
9 January - Index Page re-typed and page reloaded to replace temporary patch page. 2005 updates list archived. Older News items removed from this News page as the content is on the relevant pages in the main site.
1 January 2006 - Firstly a new novelty page, our new on-line electronic jig saw puzzle. The latest Journal contents added and further new page to show the 2005 Photographic Competition winners. The photographic lists page and the lists of photographs on free view on this site have therefore also been amended and spit into two as a consequence. Corruption discovered on Index Page and temporary patch page loaded instead.
Happy New Year all
